Rule 3. Documents in support of application for Sijil Annual
An advocate and solicitor shall have regard to the following factors in submitting documents to the Bar Council in support of his application for a Sijil Annual:
(a) the Bar Council may in its discretion accept as evidence of exemption from delivery of an accountant's report under rule 6(2) of the Accountant's Report Rules 1990 [P.U. (A) 302/90] the following:
(i) in the case of rule 6(2) (a) of those Rules, a copy of the Court Order admitting the advocate and solicitor to the Bar during the year in which the application for the Sijil Annual is made;
(ii) in the case of rule (6) (2) (c) of those Rules, a statutory declaration affirmed by a partner of the firm for which the advocate and solicitor works as an assistant establishing that fact;
(iii) in the case of rule 6 (2) (b) of those Rules and in any case where a document referred to in subparagraph (i) or (ii) is not acceptable to the Bar Council, a statutory declaration affirmed by the advocate and solicitor himself stating fully the circumstances excusing him from delivering an accountant's report and, particularly in the case of the said rule 6 (2) (b), affirming that he has not practised as an advocate and solicitor during any period in which he has not held a practising certificate; and
(b) the Bar Council may in its discretion accept a photostat copy of a receipt or certificate required to be produced under paragraph (6) or (7) of the form of application for a Sijil Annual but in case of doubt the Bar Council reserves the right to require the production of the original receipt or certificate or other appropriate evidence.
