On 7 Oct 2010, the Islamic Finance Committee organised a talk on Islamic Banking and Financing: Tawarruq & Bursa Suq Al-Sila’, which was held at the newly-renovated Bar Council Auditorium.

Bursa Suq Al-Sila’, formerly known as Commodity Murabahah House, is a commodity-trading platform that has received numerous awards due to its ingenuity and exclusiveness.  It is well received by banks locally and in the Middle East.  In effect, Bursa Suq Al-Sila’ integrates the global Islamic financial and capital markets with the commodity market.

All businesses and activities of Bursa Suq Al-Sila’ in Malaysia are managed by Bursa Malaysia Islamic Services Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia Berhad, in a regulated, transparent and fully Shari’ah-compliant environment.  For more information on Bursa Suq Al-Sila’, visit Bursa Malaysia Berhad’s official website.

The topic of Bursa Suq Al-Sila’ was explained with much clarity and the 40 participants, all Members of the Bar, had the opportunity to ask questions during the speaker’s presentation.  The talk ended at 4:30 pm and the participants were treated to a light tea to conclude the event.
