Bar Council Human Rights Debate 2008
9-12 December 2008
“UDHR @ 60 and still not all is right”

On behalf of the Bar Council Human Rights Debate Organising Committee, we are pleased to announce that the inaugural Bar Council Human Rights Debate is on! Maju!!

This event is held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 and International Human Rights Day on 10 December of every year.

Everyone is cordially invited to attend the following events:

(1)	Opening Ceremony (sponsored by Zain & Co.): 730 pm, 9 December 2008, at the Bar Council Auditorium. Prominent public intellectual and former ISA detainee, Dr Syed Husin Ali, will launch the Debate and deliver the Keynote Speech.
(2)	International Human Rights Day Dinner (supported by the High Commission of Canada): 700 pm, 11 December 2008, at Modesto's, Lot 48652 Off Jalan Bukit Kiara, Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur. The keynote speaker will be Former Minister and fellow member of the Bar, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
(3)	Closing Ceremony (sponsored by Zain & Co.): 8pm, 12 December 2008, at the Bar Council Auditorium.

If you would like to attend any of the above events, kindly email Lojini (lojini@malaysianbar.org.my) by Monday, 8 December 2008 and specify which function(s) you will attend.

Kindly note that prior registration (by 8 December 2008) is mandatory as spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. If you are not registered, you will unfortunately not be permitted entry to the respective event(s). If you register, please ensure you will attend.
