TEMERLOH: The magistrate's court yesterday fixed the trial of a prosecution witness, who allegedly gave false evidence in a corruption case, for Nov 15 and 16.

Federal Territory Umno Youth secretary Mohd Taupik Hussain is charged with giving false evidence at the graft trial of former Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Datuk Mohamad Norza Zakaria, who was on Thursday acquitted by the Sessions Court here.

Norza was acquitted after Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecution chief Datuk Abdul Razak Musa told the court that the prosecution was not proceeding with the case due to witnesses turning hostile.

Also acquitted was Norza's agent and former Maran Umno Youth chief Halimi Kamaruzzaman who was charged with abetting Norza.

Perjury happens when the lawyers involved in the matter are in favor of perjurious evidence.

Only God will instil into the parties the adherence to truth and nothing but the truth. Otherwise, it is the evil of money that makes them perjurious.

How can this be overcome?
