AN ATTEMPTED march by a group of Opposition members from the Parliament House to Suhakam office some two kilometres away following the suspension of four of their MPs saw two people being arrested.

The two arrested were PKR’s Youth exco member Lee Kai Loon and Padang Serai division secretary G. Pravin.

It is understood that the two were arrested for disobeying police orders when asked not to march to Suhakam office.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said the two men were released after their statements were recorded later in the day.

The march headed by PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar was stopped by police initially, but after negotiation, police allowed three of the supporters to march to the Suhakam building.

Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusuff claimed that they were walking peacefully from the Parliament House when they were allegedly assaulted by riot police personnel.

The three members of the opposition walked two kilometres from the Parliament building to hand over a memorandum and lodged a report over the suspension of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Karpal Singh, R. Sivarasa and Azmin Ali.

Yusmadi claimed Sivarasa was pushed during a commotion involving supporters and police personnel just outside the Parliament House when they tried to march.

After the accepting the memorandum from the opposition members Suhakam Commissioner James Nayagam said: “We take this memorandum seriously and will investigate all allegations made by them so that action can be taken immediately.”
