KUALA KRAI, July 11 — Barely hours after Nasharudin Mat Isa revealed that he was initially barred from campaigning in Manek Urai, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today insisted that Kelantan PAS had never impose such a ban on his deputy.

Nasharudin, who was also present at the press conference after a meeting with senior party leaders, said he had not been campaigning in Manek Urai solely because of his health.

“I don’t believe such a thing,” Hadi told reporters when asked whether the state PAS had banned Nasharudin earlier.

This morning, the Bachok MP told reporters that the ban was lifted after both spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and Hadi realised the need for him to be on the ground.

Last week state PAS election chief Abdul Fatah Haron also said that Nasharudin probably felt embarrassed (malu mata) to face the voters.

“Such a statement came out maybe because he was not aware of the fact that I was hospitalised,” said Nasharuddin when asked about Fatah’s remark.

Nasharudin said that he only informed Hadi and secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali of his absence from the campaign.

He added that he was advised by his doctor to rest “for a few days” after his abdominal surgery last Thursday.

“But I still came, and there has been no problem,” said Nasharudin, adding that he has attended several programmes since morning, before leaving for Kuala Lumpur in the evening.
