KUALA LUMPUR: An online One-Stop-Centre (OSC) was launched on 2nd February 2010 by Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, the Housing and Local Governments Minister to allow hassle-free submission of land development applications for the developers. The online OSC was initiated in 2008 as a pilot project involving seven local governments namely Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Johor Baru City Council, Kuala Terengganu City Council, Petaling Jaya City Council, Alor Gajah Municipal Council, Kuantan Municipal Council and Sungai Petani Municipal Council.

The OSC has managed to shorten the process of land applications including the approval of construction plans to a maximum period of 120 days as compared 1 to 2 years previously. The second phase of the projects had involved another 18 local governments last year and this year the ministry aimed to increase to 103 local governments to implement the online OSC. The ministry is currently reviewing the application process to see whether it can further reduce the period of 120 days by making the approvals to go through only one committee. For more information on the online OSC, visit www.kpkt.gov.my.
