Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan looking for Legal Officer (Deadline: 4 Mar 2011)

By George Varughese, Secretary Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan (“YBGK”) is looking for qualified and suitable candidates to staff its head office in Bangi. YBGK has been set up to pay for the services of lawyers to represent those needing legal representation in criminal proceedings. The establishment of YBGK provides, for the first time, a comprehensive and sustainable legal aid programme for those ensnared in the criminal justice system.
We invite you to apply for the position of “Legal Officer” with YBGK if you relish the challenge of becoming part of an initiative that will provide real relief to the thousands of Malaysians who receive no legal assistance upon arrest, at remand proceedings and when they are charged in court.
The requirements for the Legal Officer are as follows:
Must be a law graduate;
Have at least one year of litigation work experience;
Possess good organisational/administrative skills;
Have a good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; and
Be computer literate.
Successful candidates can expect a competitive remuneration package based on their qualifications and level of experience and qualification.
