The talk, which will provide a history of housing legislation in Malaysia, will focus on the Housing Development (Control & Licensing) Act 1966 and its regulations.

Current issues in relation to housing development and how it is affected by authorities will be discussed to enhance legal knowledge in the interpretation of certain important clauses in the Housing Development (Control & Licensing) Act 1966 and its regulations.

Speaker:
Pretam Singh s/o Darshan Singh graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of London.  Amongst his many qualifications, he has completed a course on Construction Contract Administration and Construction Project Management from Teeside College, United Kingdom.

In his career, he has served as legal advisor, senior federal counsel and deputy public prosecutor to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.  He was also legal advisor to the Town and Country Planning Department, Peninsular Malaysia; National Housing Board; and Controller of Housing.  He has acted as Vice-Chairman to the Tribunal for Homebuyer Claims.

The Speaker has contributed to a number of publications, in addition to writing several articles.  He has also given a number of presentations and lectures, both locally and overseas.

There are limited places available and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
