The Bar Council reached another significant milestone on 5 Feb 2010 (Friday) when it officially launched the Bar Council bookshop. To mark the occasion, the launch was officiated by the President of the Malaysian Bar, Ragunath Kesavan.
The bookshop, located at the ground floor of the Secretariat building, is stocked with a wide variety of legal publications from LexisNexis and we currently offer Members of the Bar great discounts, between 10% to 40% off selected books. Among the titles on offer are Malaysian Law Journal Handbook Series, Principle of Insurance Law and Law of Banker and Customer.
Just before the launch was to start at 4:00 pm, it rained heavily but that did not put a damper on the turn out. Approximately 40 attendees came to grace the opening and within two hours, RM6,000 worth of books were sold off.
The bookshop initiative was spearheaded by the Bar Council, in collaboration with LexisNexis, to provide Members of the Bar privileged discounts on legal titles.
The bookshop will operate from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm (Monday to Friday) and updates of titles and discounts will be made available to Members via circulars and information posted on the Malaysian Bar website.
