ImageIt is our pleasure to inform that the Bar Council is holding an open tender exercise for insurance broking services for the 2010 PII Scheme. The Tender Notice (below) was advertised in the New Straits Times on 20 April 2009.

The Bar Council holds an open tender exercise bi-annually. Similar to the previous tender exercises, selection of the Broker will be based on the Insurance Broker that is best able to meet the requirements of the PII Scheme as set out by the Bar Council. These requirements include brokering services, administration of the scheme and claims management. 

TENDER FOR INSURANCE BROKING SERVICES FOR THE MALAYSIAN BAR’S PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY (PI) SCHEME 2010

 
1. Tenders are invited from Insurance Brokers for insurance broking services and/or administration of a Self Insurance Scheme for the Malaysian Bar’s PI Scheme 2010.

 2. Tender Requirements (which detail what the Tender Proposal should address) will be provided on request.  All requests must be in writing and faxed to 03-2031 6124, Attention: Chairman, PII Committee.

 3. To participate in this tender, all Tenderers are required to pay a non-refundable Tender Bond before 5.00pm on 30 April 2009.  Payment should be by way of Cheque/Bank Draft made out to ‘BAR COUNCIL’.  Upon payment, Tender Documents will be provided.

 4. Completed Tender Proposals shall be submitted in a sealed envelope by 5.00pm on 15 May 2009 at:

                        Bar Council Malaysia

                        No. 13, 15 & 17, Leboh Pasar Besar

                        50050 Kuala Lumpur

                        (Attn: Chairman, PII Committee)

5. All Tenderers are required to present their proposals and answer any questions the Bar Council may have.  Tender Presentations are tentatively scheduled for the 3rd or 4th week of May 2009.
NB: All materials submitted in the Tender Proposal and Presentation will not be returned.   

6. Each Tender Proposal will be judged on the conceptual suitability and a demonstration of the ability of Tenderers to provide the services required for the best interest of the Malaysian Bar.

7. All Tenderers will be informed of the Bar Council’s decision in writing.  The Bar Council does not bind itself to accept any tender nor to assign any reason for the rejection of any tender nor will it be responsible for any costs incurred by the Tenderers.

8. Any information provided to the Bar Council will not be used or intentionally disclosed to other parties except in the normal course of negotiating, maintaining, or renewing the insurance, or for handling any claims thereunder, unless (a) we are required to disclose the information by a court of competent jurisdiction or governmental or regulatory body having the requisite authority over us; (b) the information is already in the public domain or has been received by us from a third party not under any duty of confidentiality.
