KUALA LUMPUR 10 Ogos - Timbalan Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri
Ismail Omar menafikan berita yang tersiar dalam beberapa laman blog hari ini
bahawa Ahli Parlimen Kulim-Bandar Baharu, Zulkifli Noordin ditahan di bawah Akta
Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) malam tadi.
Ismail berkata, dakwaan kononnya Ahli Parlimen itu ditahan adalah khabar angin
semata-mata.
''Mana ada beliau ditahan. Kita percaya ia merupakan satu tindakan tidak
bertanggungjawab yang cuba disebarkan oleh pihak yang ada kepentingan tertentu.
''Sehingga kini, saya tidak tahu apa-apa mengenai penahanan Zulkifli. Sesiapa
pun boleh menulis dalam blog namun kita tidak tahu kebenarannya,'' kata beliau
ketika dihubungi di sini.
Blog berkenaan mendakwa Zulkifli, 46, dari Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ditahan
di Kulim kira-kira pukul 10 malam tadi dan dia dilaporkan dibawa ke Ibu Pejabat
Kontinjen (IPK) Kedah.
Beliau pernah ditahan di bawah ISA selama 60 hari kerana terlibat dalam gerakan
reformasi bersama bekas Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim pada
29 September 1998.
Menurut Ismail, polis akan menyiasat laman blog yang menyiarkan berita berkenaan.
Beliau juga mengingatkan orang ramai agar tidak mudah terpengaruh dengan laporan
tersebut.
