KUALA LUMPUR: Pelbagai pihak membidas kedegilan Majlis Peguam yang tetap mahu meneruskan forum ‘Memeluk Islam’ dan menganggap tindakan itu bakal menimbulkan kesan buruk kepada perpaduan kaum di negara ini.
Mufti Perlis, Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, berkata tindakan yang mampu mengundang keresahan kepada mana-mana pihak termasuk membabitkan agama perlu dielak bagi mengekalkan keharmonian beragama.
“Pihak terbabit perlu menyedari forum sebegitu jika diadakan dengan tidak berhati-hati dibimbangi akan menerbitkan cabar-mencabar. Jika sebarang perbalahan agama bermula, ia tidak mudah dihentikan,” katanya ketika dihubungi.
Presiden Persatuan Perpaduan Islam Malaysia, Datuk Zulkifli Ahmad, berkata kedegilan Majlis Peguam itu mampu mengundang kemarahan umat Islam kerana ia seolah-olah mempertikaikan agama rasmi negara.
“Kerajaan perlu bertindak tegas terhadap mana-mana pihak yang cuba membahayakan negara,” katanya.
Sementara itu, di IPOH, Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin mahu Majlis Peguam menyenaraikan secara terperinci isu sebenar kerana forum itu bakal menyentuh Artikel 121 (1A) Perlembagaan Persekutuan.
“Isu dan tajuk `Memeluk Islam' terlalu luas untuk dibincangkan pada forum seumpama itu,” katanya selepas menyampaikan watikah pelantikan kepada 815 ketua kampung di sini, semalam.
