PUTRAJAYA: Chief Justice Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohamad believes in working hard
and with honesty.
To under-performing judges, he has this to say: “Buck up and work even harder.”
“Believe me, eventually honesty supersedes all and eventually the truth
prevails,” he said after receiving his appointment as head of the judiciary.
He said he was aware that there were some judges whose performance was
unsatisfactory and they should buck up and work even harder.
Former chief justice Tun Dzaiddin Abdullah, when met at the ceremony, said: “I
am proud to be here not because of anything but because of the new Chief
Justice.”
At the function yesterday, Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi was appointed as the new Court
of Appeal president.
He was sworn in before senior Court of Appeal judge Datuk Tengku Baharuddin Shah
Tengku Mahmud.
When approached after the ceremony, Zaki smiled and told reporters: “Let me get
settled down first. Wait and see.”
