Indeed these concerns exist in other communities in Malaysia and it is time for
a nation that has just celebrated 50 years of independence, to be mature enough
to acknowledge that there are problems in its society that require urgent
solutions. There is a sense that not all are given the opportunities that are
abundantly available under the Malaysian sun. These problems cannot be left to
fester. We would urge the Government to respond in a positive and constructive
manner in addressing these complex issues. Not for one minute should we dismiss
this gathering which, stripped of all else, is a cry for help. Comments (1)

It has been said that the mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates and the great teacher inspires.
The same can be said for leaders, particularly political leaders. Political leaders who use threats and coercion to get their way are nothing but intellectually bankrupt politicians. Political leaders should persuade, if they can not aspire to inspire. They should actively listen to the contrary views that may well have more merit than what they have to offer.
To threaten their own countrymen and fellow Malaysians with the Sedition Act, the Internal Security Act and all such obnoxious, reprehensible and repugnant statutes in these times when the concept of human rights is in the ascendant smacks of nothing less than intellectual bankruptcy.
If these leaders are intellectually bankrupt, perhaps it is time for them to step aside so that those who are more able can provide the right kind of leadership. In the last 20 years, Malaysia seems to be one country whose political arena seems unable to attract people with calibre. The best lack all conviction and the worst are full of sound and fury. Look around ... the truth is out there!
