What will your answer be if one approaches you and ask you “What is the Federal Constitution?” I’m sure not everyone of us would have a perfect answer for this question. As for me, the Federal Constitution is the “manual” for the country. It’s the main set of law of the country. It lays out how the country should be run by the Executives, it lays out the fundamental liberties/rights of every citizen of the country.

Just about a few months back, the Bar Council Constitutional Law Committee was set up and it was set up for one very important mission that is to educate the Rakyat about the Constitution. The other aim of the campaign is to educate and empower the Rakyat and to create better awareness about the Federal Constitution.

This campaign is the BCConstiLC's initiative to simplify the messages of the Constitution and to reach the 6 million households in Malaysia with its enduring stories. A Campaign for the Rakyat by the Rakyat. Various booklets will be distributed to educate the Rakyat about the Constitution. There will also be teaser videos for a more creative way to convey the message to the target audience of the campaign which is the age group of 15-40 years old.

The official launch of this campaign would be on the 13th of November 2009 @ 3.00pm. The first booklet of the MyConstitution would be launch on that day itself. So, do mark that date on your diary and make it a point to come to the Bar Council Auditorium to witness history in the making.

In the mean time, do join the Facebook fan page of the MyConstitution to keep yourself updated on the campaign. If you have twitter account, you can also keep yourself updated on the campaign on MyConsti.

Till then, cheers! =)
