The second article on the Malaysian Insider will be published either this week or the next. Syahredzan Johan took to the task this time and he writes about the impartiality of the Campaign.
The other two monthly columns on the Malay Mail and the Sun are yet to commence.

MyConstitution Youth Legal Awareness Workshop with Sisters In Islam (Sat & Sun, 6 & 7 Mac, full day - Armada Hotel, PJ)

A 2-day intense workshop dedicated to those from 20 – 25 years old. Sessions include what’s fast becoming a popular workshop module, Reconstituting Earth V02 and Drafting Earth V02’s First Constitution. The 40 selected participants will be expected to attend follow-up sessions after.

POPIN: POPOUT – “ISA on the ROCKS” (Sun, 7 Mac, 2-4pm – Gallery 1, Annexe Gallery, Central Market Annexe, KL) 

PopIN: PopOUT is a planned offline/on the ground event organised by PopIN to further reach their target audience (18 – 24 years old) beyond the online realm. They wish to really provoke young Malaysians and bring them together to talk about issues (of various nature, political, social, creative, arts, technology, etc) and with these monthly events that will be curated by PopIN administrators.

For the inaugural PopOUT, they will be curating a series of presentation by guests about the Internal Security Act. This is in conjunction with the tabling of amendments of the ISA in parliament on the 15th of March.
Syahredzan Johan will be giving a power point presentation on the Federal Constitution’s perspective on preventive detention and at the same time, the Rakyat Guides booklets will be distributed.

• Conversations on the Constitution - "Federal-State Relations: Should states be given more power?” with support of the High Commission of Canada (Thur, 11 Mac, 2 - 5pm - Annexe Gallery, Central Market, KL)


The Conversations on the Constitution series aims to raise awareness and promote discussion among Malaysians on constitutional issues and constitutionalism. For this particular forum, the Campaign aims to highlight the constitutional challenges faced by state governments in regards to their relations with the Federal Government.

7th monthly ConstiLC meeting & end of term get-together (Thur, 11 Mac, 5:30pm onwards - BC Meeting Room 1 & Precious, Central Market, KL)

After the “Federal-State Relations: Should states be given more power” forum at the Annexe Gallery, members of the Constitutional Law Committee will proceed with a quick end of term meeting and then a get together and makan session. This would be a good opportunity for all members to evaluate the progress of the Campaign after one year and to discuss how to work more effectively throughout the remaining Campaign period.

First Conversations on the Constitution in Sarawak (Fri, 12 Mac, 10:30am – St. Elizabeth’s Secondary School, Sibu)

Adrian L. Chew and his team at the Advocate’s Association of Sarawak (AAS) Sibu branch are having a talk on the constitution. They are working with the St. Elizabeth’s Old Students’ Association to bring the constitution to more than 400 Secondary 4 & 5 students. The team will also carry out a registration drive to recruit participants for the MyConstitution workshop scheduled for April.
This will be the first MyConstitution event which involves secondary school students.

Bar Council Annual General Meeting (Sat, 13 Mac, 10am onwards, Legend Hotel, KL)

Members of the Bar and Pupils in Chambers will be able to witness a presentation on the MyConstitution Campaign. All booklets and merchandise can also be obtained there.

Satellite launch and workshop with students at INTI College, Nilai (Mon, 15 Mac, 11am - 6pm – INTI College, Nilai)

This event will emulate the satellite launch and workshop held at Taylor's University College back in December 2009. The event will start off with a small launch attended by lecturers, students and staff and then followed by a workshop. INTI Nilai has agreed to obtain 3000 copies of RG1 & RG2.  RG3 will also be distributed.

Conversations on the Constitution – “Oil Royalty: A Constitutional Right?" (Sat, 20 Mac, 10am – 1pm – Bar Council Auditorium, KL)

The ‘Conversations on the Constitution’ series aims to raise awareness and promote discussion among the Malaysian public on constitutional issues and constitutionalism. For this particular forum, the Campaign aims to highlight the constitutional challenges faced by the State Governments in regards to their relations with the Federal Government.

This is particularly a hot topic at the moment and we are very fortunately to have these speakers for the panel:

(We may also have the Attorney-General or a representative on the panel.)

Conversations on the Constitution: "Constitutional Institutions - Separation of Powers" (Tue, 23 Mac, 8-10pm – Church of St. Francis Xavier,  Jalan Gasing, PJ)

This is the 2nd forum with SFX. The participants are given the opportunity to read the RG2 prior to the forum in order to provide them with time to come up with questions for the panelists.
Speakers are Syahredzan Johan, Art Harun and Daniel Albert.
