Duta Court Wasting $$$ - 2008/06/25 18:54 Dear anyone who is BUAT KERJA,

I am mentally tired out after reading Ian Chin's latest bombshell, which I had already expected anyway. I do not wish to comment on that anymore as it is too much for me to read and swallow at one go. I also find it tasteless that the CEO of Tenaga Nasional can earn so much in a month while Tenaga employees earn so little.

I wish to highlight however what I saw or have been seeing every night or morning whenever I pass by the Duta Courts. (I live nearby). Each time I pass by the Duta Courts, my mind thinks of how much the Government actually contributes towards Tenaga's CEO's salary.

As we all are very much aware, the Duta Courts are really huge and really massive and grand and looks like a palace for all the Kings of the world combined. Thats okay. The huge buntings of BUAT KERJA remind us of how Justice should work.

We should also be fully aware of the amount of electricity needed to make the Duta Courts look as grand as ever, especially at night. With all its lights fully and brightly ON even at 4 am in the morning, makes such a waste of public funds.

Its a beautiful sight I am sure, but a total waste of money. Not a single lights are off at night. Needless to mention the amount of electricity needed for the airconditioning in the day time. Could someone in position in the Judiciary tell me how much they pay in electricity bills per month?

Please, could someone make sure we dont be waste money? With the money saved every night, if we turned off the lights, we would be able to feed many poor people in the country.

Tired out (no light bulb in the brain now)

Re:Duta Court Wasting $$$ - 2008/06/27 11:03 In response to this I too wonder how much money is wasted on the Electricit for lights at Jalan Duta Courts everytime i pass there only to find out that they cut the air con in the staff rooms at 4 pm "to save electricty bill".

I over heard a staff saying that and why is the lights on on the roads. Isn't that a waste of money too?

I guess the people going pass the Duta Court must be told that "look this is where your money has been spent". And to do, they have to spend even more money on electricity bill (not to mention the number of lawyers it take to change a lightbulb)

Re:Duta Court Wasting $$$ - 2008/07/02 15:59 Shall get an MP to ask this question in Parliament for the next sitting.

The answer would be interesting.

Re:Duta Court Wasting $$$ - 2008/07/04 09:13 Well, maybe they need the lights to see if anyone trespass into the property at night and wipe out the evidence in the court room. u know, the Irene Fernandez's case on the "now you see it, now you don't" evidence.

But i think with a majestic building like this, it would be a shame to leave it as a dead and dark building at night. Well, no one complain about the high electricity bill previously in Jalan Raja Court (maybe there are a lot of mat rempit at night to justify it?)

Anyway, previously there was the night court which justify the lights, but i do think it is dangerous to let the building blackout at night. We do need to think of security purposes and safety of the security guards. No one would know what will happen there at night especially when the lights went off.

Re:Duta Court Wasting $$$ - 2008/07/17 08:39 I passed by the Duta Courts last night at 1 am. I am glad to see that the lights were not as bright as the many previous nights. Perhaps they switched off the spotlights?

Still, its a development.

At least the "jaga" is listening.
