Ratification of UNCAC - 2008/09/25 11:37 Amidst the hullabaloo over the political direction of this country, I am glad that Malaysia has, on Sept 17, ratified the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

UNCAC amongst other things seeks to fight against corruption from a domestic, global and international level. It also seeks to ensure that state resources are not wasted and that there is sustained development in its member states. It also contains provisions of conduct of public officials, management of public funds and public reporting.
I hope the Malaysian government will follow the terms of UNCAC seriously and not pay mere lip service to it.

However, at this stage, I must give credit to the Malaysian government for taking this bold step. Well done and I now hope more good things will come out of this as we aim to minimise the impact of corruption.
