Malaysian Bar Forum

Web-Reporting "Conversations" - 2007/09/07 14:23 Dear All,

http://www.malaysianbar.org.my is owned by all of us at the Bar. From its inception, lawyers have been encouraged to report events which are relevant to the Bar for publication on the site. We have become both the consumers and producers of information in cyberspace, and everyone may be a ‘journalist’. This has quickly led to a substantial growth in terms of content and readership.

Working with the webmaster, the NYLC through its Public Relations and Liaison Unit has attempted to assist in improving and updating the website daily. We now have a pool of talented and dedicated young lawyers from which reports may be commissioned. But we need more!

In the continuing need to improve standards and provide basic guidance, the NYLC is holding an informal ‘conversations’ session to exchange information and tips on web-reporting. We also seek to encourage more members to undertake this endeavour, and to write interesting and high-quality pieces efficiently.

We have invited Mr Roger Tan who has been singularly instrumental in the administration of the Bar’s site and Ms Beh Lih Yi of Malaysiakini.com to share with us their experiences and knowledge in reporting, and expectations of a reporter.

All members and pupils in chambers are encouraged to attend.

The details of the session are as follows:

Date : 12 September 2007
Time : 530 to 730 pm
Venue : Room 1, Level 3, Bar Council

For those who are interested, kindly email Ms Chandrika Bhaskaran at chandrika@malaysianbar.org.my no later than by 10 September 2007.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing all of you on the 12th!
