West Coast Charity Nite 2007 - 2007/06/25 00:14 The Charity Nite which started in KL in 2005 has now become a YLC franchise, with Perak, Melaka and Johor YLC organising similar events at their capital cities.

Every event is engineered to help the unfortunate members of our society. It is a chance for all lawyers to give financial help to the organisation supported by the state YLCs. I hope you will come out in numbers to support them.

Already I understand that KL YLC have sold more than 200 tickets as of 22nd June 2007 [Friday].

Melaka as of that same day have sold 85 tickets, which is an excellent respond.

I understand that Perak and Johor YLCs are also busy selling tickets.

It will be another fabulous night for lawyers to enjoy a night out. I've said this before at earlier Charity Nites - its a night organised by lawyers, for lawyers.

'High five' to all the YLCs organising the Charity Nite, and also ALL other YLC all over Peninsular Malaysia, who has already voiced their support for another energetic Young Lawyers event!!

400 and counting.... - 2007/06/27 18:26 The West Coast Charity Nite project is blossoming beautifully. The YLC committee in all the 4 states involved are in the final stages of preparing for this historic event. Never before has 4 states come together in the name of charity. To me it takes considerable courage and dedication to execute a plan of this nature. It also showcasess what we lawyers can do if we are all united.

In KL, I am happy to announce that 400 tickets have been snapped up. As every hour goes by, more tickets are being sought. It may even come to a point where the KL Bar YLC may just stop selling tickets, just to manage the expectations of those confirmed attending.

Managing Expectations will not be an easy feat. We hope that all those attending whether in KL or even in the other states will enjoy yourselves and make the most of the night.

Sincerely,
Dipendra
KL Bar YLC Chair

What happened to Penang YLC? Why are we being excluded?

Or have Penang young lawyers suddenly become uncharitable?

Re:400 and counting.... - 2007/06/28 11:09 Dear Stephen,

It is our wish to organise it simultaneously all around Peninsular Malaysia however we cannot do it in States which do not have YL Committee. We can only encourage every YL and YL Committee in every state to organise the same, but again only with their own efforts the same can be coordinated.

I know many of Penang YLs are of kind and charitable-hearted, but like i've said we cannot do it in States which do not have YL Committee.

I would like to urge the State Bars which do not have YL Committee to establish or re-establish YL Committee for the benefit of the YLs in the respective states.

What? Penang does not have a Young Lawyers' Committee? Why not?

If I am not mistaken, the present Secretary of the Penang Bar came from the Penang Young Lawyers Committee.

If I am right, I would have thought that he would ensure that such a committee be set up.

If what you say it right, then there must be something special about Penang. Can someone please tell me what is so special about Penang that we do not have a Young Lawyers Committee?

Supra-dign? Infra-dig?
