Re:Thank You Roger Tan - 2008/12/03 14:36 Dear Roger,

When I read the news that you would be "retiring" as the Webmaster, my initial reaction was "Oh No Roger". However upon deeper reflection, it dawned on me that to ask of you to continue giving your time unselfishly as you have over the last four or five years would be rather selfish of me.

Having served together on Council I know how much you have done for the website. To me the website has been synonymous with you. In spite of all the brickbats that you took over the years, you relentlessly persevered to make the website the pride of the Malaysian Bar.

On a recent visit to the Library of Congress in Washington, I met the librarian in charge of their Malaysia section. I was shown their online research facilities on Malaysian Law. I was astounded by the research tools available on line on Malaysian law; and there was the linkage to the Malaysian Bar website. I was then told by the librarian that she found the Malaysian Bar Website to be one of the best law research sites available online and the Library of Congress made it a point to have it linked to their website!!

There you have it, Roger. The greatest of accolades for your tireless efforts from the greatest law libraries in the world.

Well done and thank you.

Re:Thank You Roger Tan - 2008/12/07 09:49 Dear Roger,

What more can I say?

After leaving Malaysia for almost 3-4 years, I must say that the only website (in the entire world) that I choose to follow closely on a daily basis, is none other than the www.malaysianbar.org.my!

You have exercise your discretion so well in news selection and copy tasting, chosen news/reports/articles which are deemed important and relevant only for busy ‘readers’ like myself, so that I could follow the latest happenings in Malaysia like a daily bread. Often times, you went further in creating your own genuine piece(s), editing or allowing news and articles contributed by practitioners, scholars and intellects within the legal profession, academia, activists not just for the legal related news, but all other aspects which were in one way or another closely linked to the three essential pillars of a parliamentary democracy system through the maintaining of a constitutional monarchy in Malaysia. I find that reading your news portal is most enjoyable, user-friendly, and most importantly, it is an extremely superior platform in generating awareness, provoking intellectual discourse and valuable archives for researchers.

You have created something from ground zero, and within such a short span of time (less than 5 years I believe), it is simply amazing to learn that the Malaysian Bar Website has in itself accumulated a tremendous wealth of contents and information available to the public. This is self-explanatory when using google search for Malaysia legal related information. I must confess that I can hardly ‘survive’ without accessing the Malaysian Bar Website at least once a day!

Once again, Roger, my deepest appreciation to you, wishing you the very best of health, and may HIS blessings be with you and your family, always will, and abundantly!

Warmest regards,

Re:Thank You Roger Tan - 2008/12/08 23:31 Dear Roger,

The Malaysian Bar website is one of the first places I go to for daily news. It is a treasure trove of information made accesible to everyone.

I must salute you for single handedly bringing the Bar website to world class perfection.

Thanks for waking up in the early hours of the morning to bring in the daily doses of news, staying up late at night to squeeze in the latest news and updating the website constantly in between.

Happy retirement!
