Suggestions for the IT Committee Etc. - 2007/10/13 01:16This website stands as a testament to the diligence and foresight of the Bar Council's IT Sub-Committee. [That those very same attributes are also applicable to the Webmaster(s) of this website goes without saying.]
Still, I am similarly certain that this very same Committee has never been content in resting on their laurels. If so and if there is any interest in spurring the legal knowledge of our fellow members to greater heights, then it may be sensible to consider:
a. setting up a wiki of Malaysian laws utilizing the MediaWiki software. Contributors can be made up of any member of the Bar save that some amount of supervision is exercised by senior members of the Bar or members with expertise in a particular given area. In this regard, reference can be made to the model adopted in Citizendium (http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Main_Page).; OR
b. linking up with other wikis/pedias offering such utilities to their users. E.g. Jurispedia (http://en.jurispedia.org/index.php/Main_Page) although it does come with its own disadvantages.
Putting it mildly, I readily concede that the suggestions are ambitious. But then again who would have ever thought that Malaysia would have a 1st Malaysian cosmonaut/space tourist/model/8th Muslim in space/Dr, almost experimenting with making teh tarik in zero gravity but finally opting to do far more scientific 'stuff' in space.
Anyway, while I am on this, permit me to also wish all saudaras and saudaris of the Bar who are Muslims Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin. On a more general level, drive safely and happy holidays everyone.Best sig ever - Religious war at its most basic level is a disagreement over who has the best imaginary friend.
