			<title>Case closed?????</title>

<description>Unfortunately, we have a PM and DPM and their entire cabinet that seem to hold that the case of the judicial crisis is closed with some undisclosed amount of ex-gratia payments. Nothing is done todate after the dinner organised by our Bar for the government to reform the judiciary and to rebuild public confidence in it. We must press on even if it means advocating a change of government.

			<title>HOMAGE TO THE SACRIFICED SIX</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/launch_of_the_report_of_the_panel_of_eminent_persons_to_review_the_1988_judicial_crisis_in_malaysia.html#pc_7749</link>
<description>Together with all my Malaysian friends, I salute the Six, including the duo who have sadly gone on before us. Oh yes, let me add this lament: Individually and jointly, they could have contributed so much more to the judicial system, if not for the ignorance of one man.

But ignorance is surely no defence. This is particularly so for anyone holding such high office since he or she could have availed himself or herself of the legal advice at his or her command. There is no stopping him or her from taking legal advice from separate public and public sector sources to ensure the independence of the judiciary.

As globalisation continues its relentless march and as the competition for direct foreign investment intensifies, it is with tears that I find our country suffering such a severe handicap.

The powers-that-be must reflect the political will to take measures to redress the situation as long ago as five years ago.

This is the Malaysian Bar's galant initiative that pays humble homage to the courage of the Sacrificed Six and makes all self-respecting lawyers proud.

Like all good things, it came at a high price for some of our leaders. May their lives continue to be blessed by the Almighty and be inspired by &quot;let right be done,&quot; a simple but powerful message that, to be candid, evaded me when I did Winslow Boy in Form Four.
