It was founded on honesty, integrity, trust. If not for the trust that the Tunku enjoyed among the leaders of the various communities then, there would never have been a Malaya and the subsequent Malaysia. Somehow, we in Malaysia lost our way when some previous leaders misled us. Now, alas, the average Malaysian distrusts our basic democratic institutions. Although we can see for ourselves how the system has thrown up many of the dishonest and the corrupt over the last twenty years, I shall continue to keep faith with my God, my country and my people, always confident that things will turn full cycle. It is a question of time.
