<description>It is perhaps a sad reflection of the state of our Judicial system that such a comment can be made, and can be viewed seriously as a matter of concern by most of us.

However, I disagree that there is anything sinister in this. Lawyers and Judges who go on an officially sanctioned, openly declared &quot;delegation&quot; to an official Legal event is as far removed from the notion of a lawyer and a judge &quot;holidaying together&quot; as is possible.

What if in an era to come, a judge and a lawyer go as part of a delegation to an International Conference on Legal Aid, or on Migrant Rights? Would that be permissible? And would a local grad Judge be biased against a foreign grad lawyer? Would a Judge and a lawyer who have both served on a committee organising a conference or an event be considered as having too close of a relationship with each other? What about a Judge who was in the same university as a lawyer?

Whilst we all hope that Judges do not look on lawyers purely from the rose tinted glasses of who are their friends and who are not, I think the reality is that human nature dictates that you exhibit a certain laxity to persons you are familiar with. Hence, the complaint of many junior lawyers that senior lawyers are treated better by the Bench!

On a more serious note, however: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali_Jinnah was from Lincoln's Inn!!! ;)

<description>Lawyers and judges going for holiday...or together in an associations.

When a lawyer member Malaysian Inner Temple Alumni Association appear before a sitting judge member - would the judge recuse himself? I wonder whether there would be fairness and justice to the other party represented by some CLP lawyer or local university graduate lawyer...

A delegation is it? Judges and lawyers....mmmmm

In solidarity,
