Fellow lawyers

My views on the above matter concur with Charles Hector's as well as Simon Hong whose concern I also reflect.

Rather perturbed

Considering the recent allegations against the judiciary, I am rather perturbed by the appointment of Dato’ Zaki as the Court of Appeal President. I am sure that there are other more appropriate candidates in the judiciary.

Dato Zaki should RESIGN for the good of the Judic

Tan Sri Dato’ Zaki Bin Tun Azmi, the former UMNO legal adviser, so soon after his sudden "express" elevation as a Federal Court Judge should never have been made the President of the Court of Appeal. In fact, by reason of his links to UMNO, he should never even been appointed a Judge. Now I would not be surprised that he would be our next head of the Judiciary - and that will really look bad for the Malaysian Judiciary. Remember that even though Zaki may be a good man and a good judge - but we must be realistic as to what will be the perception of the people. Would they think they can get justice if they have a case against UMNO or the government or some political personality in UMNO (or even the Barisan)? I think not - we need an independent judiciary. We do not want a person beholding to UMNO as the head of the judiciary. The sudden appointment straight to the Federal Court already smelled not right. Now this - being made the 2nd in the Judiciary.

What experience does this man have of the judiciary? A few months ... and now he is 2nd in command - something is really not right.. and what makes it worse is that in happens now - when we have this whole issue surrounding that "Lingam tapes"
