My beloved Chief Minister, are you saying that Bumiputra lawyers (who have the same degree qualifications as non Bumi lawyers) are incapable of succeeding in a level playing field unless they are given all sorts of assistance? Isn't enough enough? It is shocking as we approach 50 years of independence that UMNO is still trying to raise the race and religion issue for the benefit of its clansmen. - Jaspal Singh Gill

Please check out Art. 8 of Federal Constitution...

Our Federal Constitution is the supreme law in Malaysia, and one of its most important provisions is Article 8 which is also known as the EQUALITY provision. Simple enough to understand though it might hard to swallow, this Article safeguards the fundamental rights and interests of every persons in Malaysia where everybody SHOULD enjoy equal rights and treatments, and there SHOULD NOT BE any sort of discrimination in terms of nationality, RACE, gender, skin color, so on and so forth.

It is a known fact that Malaysia is a multi-racial society where we have been keeping its harmony, or we have at least been promoting such an image in the local adverts. However, when one particular race's interest forms the ONLY concern of the government, how does the EQUALITY stand on such a unbalanced scale??

All Malaysians should read the Federal Constitution, more so for the politicians who hope to be our next PM or Ministers in one day, even not for the entire Constitution, at least for those very fundamental provisions, so that when they open their mouths, they would not talk as if there is no Constitution in Malaysia. For goodness sake, we do have one, and it is written.

It is a known fact that Malaysia is a multi-racial society where we have been keeping its harmony, or we have at least been promoting such an image in the local adverts. However, when one particular race's interest forms the ONLY concern of the government, how does the EQUALITY stand on such a unbalanced scale?? - Shim Wai Loon
