			<title>You don't need Umno, Dato'</title>

			<description>Dear Dato' Zaid,

You once said that the state of the Malaysian judiciary reminded you of your favourite group - Dire Straits. It appears that UMNO too is in dire straits if they cannot realise that you are (were) possibly the only member with principles that they have (had).

			<title>NOT A HAPPY AUGURY ...</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/legal/general_news/zaid_sacked_from_umno.html#pc_8751</link>
			<description>Umno, in a moment of insanity, has sacked Zaid Ibrahim, one of the brightest stars to grace its galaxy, without giving him the right to be heard. If I am right, that, alas, is allowed, given the amended Societies Act.

To me, the dismissal is almost like the United States of America looking on in askance while one of its brightest sons, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963. On that day, the bright promise of Camelot ended on a dark note.

I know the above equation does not really compute. Hence, the use of the word &quot;almost.&quot;

But, really, who cares … unless one bothers to link the assassinations of South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem on Nov 2 and of Kennedy twenty days later to today's falling American greenback that the consequent Vietnam War of the late 1960s precipitated when then President Richard M. Nixon abandoned the Gold Standard on Aug 15, 1971. But, in American records, the Vietnam War was never a war in the first place!

Seriously, Zaid's dismissal cannot be a happy augury ...

			<title>Why all the angst and paranoia</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/legal/general_news/zaid_sacked_from_umno.html#pc_8745</link>
			<description>UMNO constantly tells the non-malays that it is a party on the mend and has the interests of non-malays at heart. Its leaders sing the tune of national unity, fairness and justice.

Then it sacks one of its most vocal leaders for turning up at an opposition assembly and a division chief for criticising the top leadership.

How does one take UMNO seriously like this? Are they so paranoid that UMNO resorts to desperate measures such as this to quell the slightest of dissent?

maybe UMNO does not deserve its place under the Malaysian sun.
