DSAI should have known that getting a motion of no-confidence through Parliament would not have been possible due to the government's control of the time-table. The Federal Opposition's first realistic chance to bring down the government was at the end of the Budget debate, and they failed because they were out-manoeuvred and simply did not have the numbers. All the hopes of cutting a new deal with the PM-to be and all the promises of new money to Sabah and Sarawak and other constituencies were just too much for those who had thought of crossing over. So they just weren't ready to let their names be released. There may indeed come a time before the next general election when the present government will be defeated. But in the meantime DSAI please do not fall back on your boring usual excuses to try and explain away September 16. You would also be insulting our intelligence.
