			<title>A Despicable Act Of Terror</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/legal/general_news/singaporean_hostage_killed_in_mumbai.html#pc_8725</link>
<description>My heart goes out to the families of close to 200 victims who have died in vain.

It could have been anyone.....businessmen, holidaymakers, hotel workers, bystanders, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jews....and my heart sank on hearing the rescued Jewish child had lost his parents on his 2nd birthday.

What is startling is that how have the terorists, who seem to be barely out of their teens, have been brain-washed and indoctrinated to give their life away in such a manner.

If they think they are Jihadis, i think they are misguided. Taking a life of another, in such a cowardice manner is far, far away from being any close to a Jihad. If it was at the battlefield to safeguard their country or religion then it is different altogether. For nowhere in Islam it teaches about the killing innocent people to advance a cause.

From the initial findings it is reported the perpertrators are Kashmiris. It is their nationalistic cause which has been going on since the independence of India. They just happened to be Muslims. It is the legacy of their colonial masters. The same fingerprints are seen in the middle-east, after the dismantling of the Ottomon Empire.

Whatever their struggle may be, kiling of innocent civillian victims is clearly an unislamic despicable act which would dilute whatever sympathy that the world might have had for the Kashmiris.

			<title>Sad vicious cycle</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/legal/general_news/singaporean_hostage_killed_in_mumbai.html#pc_8723</link>
<description>A very tragic way to die. My deepest sympathy and prayers to her family and indeed the 195 people who needlessly perished.

The whole episode exposes the inability of the Indian Navy to patrol and guard the Arabian Sea and the deep natural harbour which borders Mumbai. Much of the blame will no doubt fall on the current leadership of the Congress Party and their relative softer stand on terrorism and external threats. Manmohan Singh may be a top economist but many will think that he lacks the hardness of the former slipper wearing Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes.

It will also see the rise of the right wing nationalist BJP who will use this as a rallying call at the next General elections. The BJP are known for their tough stand on terrorism. Their moderate leader Vajpayee has since stepped down and has been replaced by LK Advani. Among Advani's main advisors is Narendra Modi, the current CM of the state of Gujarat and a candidate for PM-ship in future. It was under Modi's watch that India (the state of Gujarat) suffered major communal riots in 2002.

I only fear that this attack will precipatate more such attacks in India. It will continue an already vicious cycle.
