			<title>Malaysian Muslim lawyers Association?</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8617</link>
<description>Malaysian Muslim lawyers Association, is this even a legal association? Never heard of it. Somebody tell this J**k, there is only one Bar which includes (Malay, Chinese, Indian &amp; Others). We should let people with their own political agenda to form their own bar association like Malaysian Muslim lawyers Association. Perhaps he cannot get elected as President to the Malaysian Bar so he formed his own... ;D ;D

			<title>Just Another Point of View</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8614</link>
<description>Dear Friends, Tan Sri's statement should not be taken out of context. Since there is so much interest within the Bar on issues concerning the position of Islam and Malays in the Constituition as well as the conflict of laws affecting the jurisdiction of the Syariah and Civil Courts, it is only fair and right that the Muslim Lawyer's Association make a stand on the issues. After all the Bar should be ready and willing to hear from all quaters and all their members and not just from some ourspoken ones. And whether soem choose to voice their opinion from within the Bar or from other organisations outside the Bar is entirely their right.

Sekian. Salam.

			<title>A Rascist Remark</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8604</link>
<description>His unwarranted remark is bent on causing disunity among brother lawyers and unjustifiably puts the bar council in a bad light. Tan Sri Abu Zahar should be referred to the Advocates &amp; Solicitors Disciplinary Board as he is a member of the bar. He is the one playing (racial) politics.

			<title>Muslim (Lawyers) over-reacting...</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8603</link>
<description>Muslim Lawyers' Association President states :&quot;...He also advised Muslim lawyers in the country to be united as Muslims were &quot;under increased pressure&quot; of late....&quot;.

I am confused as to who is creating the pressure, is any.

One issue some Muslim/Malay groups are harping on is Article 153 Federal Constitution and these quarters equate 'ketuanan Melayu' to this Article 153.

If Article 153 is read in its entirety, it states that the King is responsible to safeguard the special positions of Malays and interests of other communities. So, these quarters have conveniently left out the fact that the King must also safeguard interests of non-Malays!

In fact, the aforesaid remark that the Bar is being political seem to be the same one echoed by the de-facto Law Minister, Dato Seri Nazri some time ago. Hence, whose being political here?

Further, isn't the Muslim Lawyers' Association also playing the race/religion cards, like one political party called UMNO?

			<title>Seorang lagi.....</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8602</link>
<description>Alamak..seorang lagi tukang cakap ala' UMNO. Tan Sri...apa kena 'bumiputra privilege' dengan Islam? Rasanya organisasi Tan Sri tersalah nama, kena tukarkan jadi &quot;Malay (UMNO) Lawyers Association&quot;. Not in the name of Islam please. Even if your organization is not UMNO linked, it sure sounds like it. Now it seems, not only anyone can fly, but anyone can also form organizations claiming to represent a certain group nowadays.

			<title>Right to represent lawyers</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8601</link>
<description>Is legally possible for any organisation apart from our Bar Council to represent practising lawyers or any smaller group of practising lawyers? Can any Bar Council office-bear please clarify this?

			<title>VIEW AN ENLIGHTENED ONE?</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8596</link>
<description>With respect, is that an enlightened view or is it politically loaded?

How is that view reconciled with the principle of an independent Bar and an independent judiciary?

<title>An Association of Non Muslim Lawyers.</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/bar_news/berita_badan_peguam/bar_council_told_to_stay_away_from_politics.html#pc_8595</link>
<description>Since there is such a body as the 'Malaysian Muslim Lawyers Association', then we also need another one that is to be known as the 'Non-Muslim Lawyers Association' as well. This body will then include lawyers who are Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, etc., etc.

In this manner, the lawyers will balance up the representations for and of the people.
