			<description>Minister Syed Hamid has 2 things in common with me; law degree and hair-style.

However, he is so dungu so as not to realise that the use of ISA is under the purview of his own Home Ministry. Where was ISA when the mobs stormed Bar Council? Where was ISA when Ahmad Ismail uttered the word 'pendatang'? Whose advising Syed Hamid on these blunders? Is it &lt;b&gt;[deleted by MBW]&lt;/b&gt; Najib, Ahmad Bodohwi, harry Jamaluddin?

			<title>Minister is not being truthful</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/berita/komen_undang_undang/syed_hamid_jawab_zaid.html#pc_7919</link>
			<description>Quite rightly pointed out by Andrew, Syed Hamid said that police were the ones who decided to use the ISA and after 2 days, it is a government decision. The Minister from the very first day has not been truthful with us. And he insults our intelligence when he says that Tan was arrested for her protection because her life was under threat. What a load of bovine excreta!

			<title>Where's your consistency, Minister?</title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/berita/komen_undang_undang/syed_hamid_jawab_zaid.html#pc_7914</link>
			<description>The Minister for Home Affairs is being inconsistent on 2 points:

1. ISA Arrests. The press has reported the Minister for Home Affairs as saying the arrests under the ISA were not on his instructions. Instead the police chose to act. Now he is saying, according to this report, that it is a government decision. Even (which is not conceded) if it was a decision by the government, was it a Cabinet decision? From the comments by various ministers in today's mainstream media, it is clear that the arrests were not a Cabinet decision. If so, it is perfectly acceptable for the Cabinet minister who authorised or otherwise permitted the ISA arrests to be challenged on it, even by his fellow members of the Cabinet.

2. Power Transition Plan. According to the Prime Minister, the power transition plan was discussed and approved by Cabinet. But the Minister of International Trade and Industry has decided to break ranks with his Cabinet colleagues by now saying that the decision should be up to the UMNO membership. This is not what was agreed to by the Cabinet, according to the Prime Minister. So here, when there is a clear breach of collective Cabinet decision-making, why isn't the Minister for Home Affairs saying anything to or about the Minister for International Trade and Industry? Is this a case of selective criticism?

And really, there is a third inconsistency. The Minister for Home Affairs has explained that the reason only the journalist was arrested was because the politician in question had been disciplined by UMNO. The Minister for Home Affairs forgets that party IS NOT government. I realise the Minister may not be very clear on this. So let me say that a breach of party rules is addressed by the party; a breach of the law must be addressed by the law. Action by the party cannot be equated to action under the law. He confuses the two. There is no issue of double jeopardy here.

I think it is time for the Minister for Home Affairs to resign. He has obviously brought the government into ridicule and disrepute by authorising or otherwise allowing the use of the ISA wrongly. He must resign, and the ISA detainees must be released forthwith.

			<title>Kerajaan untuk siapa ? </title>
			<link>http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/berita/komen_undang_undang/syed_hamid_jawab_zaid.html#pc_7913</link>
			<description>&quot;Mesti ada semangat setiakawan dan berpasukan dalam kerajaan, saya bertindak sebagai kerajaan, lain pula kalau saya di luar,” jelasnya.&quot;

YB Datuk,

Mansuhkan ISA,
