Our friend Kula would probably be recommended for a promotion. The arresting officer who arrested Edmund will be next to be promoted. It always takes a few incidents for few to be deemed "Heroes" and "deserved to be promoted"!

Typical pariah mentality!

My kudos to Edmund for braving the event and for standing up. I really did not know until this morning of all that took place otherwise would have showed up to support Edmund too. Edmund, our prayers go out to you and your family during this trying time.

From the two stripes on his uniform this Kulasegaram must be a corporal only. Why did they not send him to Batu Caves temple to remove the banners and posters there? Oops on secondment to the Majlis Daerah or Perbandaran as I believe Batu caves is not in FT.

Irrational police act

The DBKL officer enters our premises and removed our banners without warrant. - A crime!

Edmund Bon tried to explain. - A sane and civilised act!

Result: Edmund Bon was arrested!

Comment: I tried to comprehend such irrational action by the police and tried as hard as I can but I can't seem to come out with any justification for such arrest. Well, one may be prepared to give the police the benefit of doubt because the police officer who arrested Edmund may have intended to arrest the DBKL officers but a case of mistaken indentity! On second look at the pictures, Edmund looks much slimmer and younger than Kulasegeram.

So..the justification and the rationality of Edmund's arrest still alludes me until it dawn on me that in Bolehland, the definition of crime is different from how a civilised society defines it.

Examples:-

1. When Nurin was murdered, the Police wanted to go after the parents.

2. When the Video Clip of a person who bears resemblance to a senior lawyer brokering the appointment of CJ was exposed, the authorities seemed to go after the whistleblowers.

3. When the video clip of the nude squatting woman was exposed, the police wanted to go after the person recording the event.

4. When Lim Guan Eng championed the cause of a young girl in Malacca against the then CM, he was arrested and jailed!

Indeed! Malaysia Boleh. >:( >:(

A police state?

I'm utterly disgusted and embarrassed by the unilateral and arbitrary abuse of police power in arresting our friend, Mr Edmund Bon . Bon was arrested in a mafia-style Hollywood type by the police. I, together with all right minded Malaysian, am ashamed of this abuse of police powers. It was a total disregard of the constitutions, and any laws of this country. What Bon did was explaining to DBKL officers that the banners were in private property and subsequently a senior police personnel arrested him. A COWARD act.

As a citizen and a fellow member of the Bar, I call upon the immediate release of E. Bon as there were NO LAWS breached by him.

I now call upon the resignations of the Inspector General of Police for his failure to uphold the constitution and protecting the innocence and the Mayor for such arbitrary act and abuse of power by his Little Napoleons

Enough is enough

It was highly unnecessary for DBKL to behave this way. They behaved like thugs and watching them tear down a poster on account that secretariat staff was "too slow" in taking it down AND ON PRIVATE PROPERTY THAT TOO, it was just not on.

Edmund was all but aggressive or intimidating. He was only trying to rationalise with them, a point seeming lost on those in uniform. How come they developed a conscience (albeit highly misplaced) all of a sudden.

It must have made their blood boil to see people (including the orang asli who made their way from up north) enjoying themselves and celebration human rights.

Tomorrow is human rights day and weep we must for all right thinking Malaysians as we are surely but slowly tailspin into a state of hopelessness, despair and utter disrespect. A truly fascist state we are.

I hope the world weeps and then laughs at our stupidity.

Outrageous is an understatement

This is indeed a sad day. Edmund was supposed to give a closing speech when he was arrested. The festivies, now called the "Festival of FRights", remains unclosed due to Edmund's arrest. We shall continue the struggle.

Outrageous is an understatement. It's more "hilarious" that the DBKL & PDRM is doing this on a Sunday, when they should have used this time to go help out the flood victims in and around Malaysia instead of spending manpower on a day to celebrate Human Rights day.

If that enforcement officer is so hardworking, I am sure he can occupy himself until his retirement together with the police officers to remove illegal banners and posters that must surely be around in DBKL.

QUO VADIS, MALAYSIA?

This is indeed a very sad day for Malaysia. Which law allows local council officers to trespass onto private property and then arrest a Bar Councillor while the Bar Councillor is exercising his right to the freedom of expression on Human Rights Day? Where is the colour of law in this instance?

Good Lord, where are we headed as a nation? Quo vadis, Malaysia, my country, the country where our blood was first split? Have we forgotten how to treat and regard fellow Malaysians with dignity?

Why is this happening?

To my friend, Edmund Bon, may the Lord strengthen your abiding faith in Him as you go through this struggle. There is no shame in what you are doing; indeed it is very honourable of you to have gone through this pompous display of naked power, power without the colour of the law!
