You are cordially invited to a public lecture by the Rt Hon Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss GBE.
The Rt Hon Dame Elizabether Butler-Sloss first practised as a barrister specialising in family law before becoming a Registrar and later a High Court Judge. Dame Elizabeth chaired the Cleveland Child Abuse Inquiry, the outcome of which has had a significant effect on social work practice in the UK. In 1988, Dame Elizabether became Britain's first woman Lord Justice of Appeal and a Privy Councillor. In 1999 she was appointed President of the Family Division of the High Court, a position she held till early this year.
