Dr Seah is one of the first Malaysian woman forensic DNA scientists. She is presently the Head of the DNA Databank Unit. Dr Seah has extensive experience in DNA testing for murders, rapes, body identifications and kinship/paternity testing cases and has testified in courts for numerous cases. In the pipeline is the set-up of the National DNA Databank for which she is part of the steering committee which oversees the set-up.
Her special area of research is in the understanding of DNA degradation and the development of strategies for the long-term preservation of DNA. She had published and presented several papers in this field.
