"The Business of Sport and the Law in Asia" conference has been given official approval by the IOC and will take place on the 4th and 5th July in Singapore - the two days prior to their announcement of the winning 2012 Olympic host city ( although the forum does not form part of the official proceedings of the 117th IOC session in Singapore).
The conference will take a look at the fast developing sports market in Asia in the context of the WADA code, Liabilities of Sports Officials, contractual disputes (state courts or arbitration), and other pertinent legal and commercial issues central to the development of sport in Asia and worldwide.
With the International Court for Arbitration of Sport (ICAS) recently confirming that they will be establishing an ad-hoc division of the Court of Arbitration of Sport in Asia, this is a timely and important forum at which to be present. (The General Secretary of CAS is hosting a morning session at the conference). With the IOC's announcement taking place the following day, Singapore will be an exciting place to be from both a historic and networking point of view.
