We are pleased to inform you that the Malaysian Bar Council and the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA) will be co-organising the above Conference to be held from October 29 - November 1, 2008 at the KL Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
The LAWASIA Conference is a prestigious and major international law conference held and hosted in various countries in Asia and the Pacific on a bi-annual basis (until recently where it is being held on an annual basis). The 20th LAWASIA Conference was recently and successfully held in Hong Kong in July 2007 with participation from prominent speakers and delegates from Asia and the Pacific region. The 21st LAWASIA Conference will be of particular significance to Malaysia and the Malaysian Bar which hosted the 1st Biennial Lawasia Conference in 1968, and now the inaugural Annual LAWASIA Conference. The theme for this Conference is 'Challenging Asia'. Asia is now evolving as a global force in many aspects such as commerce and industry, finance and banking, space technology and travel, issues pertaining to the environment, cultural arts and in opinion leading with Malaysia as an important and integral component in this evolution. This presents a challenge to Asia in the socio-economic, cultural, political and legal spheres in meeting and managing the many changes that result from its evolution. We have put together a conference programme with topics that are varied and yet relevant to these challenges, and have brought together many prominent international, regional and local speakers. It is not often that a full scale international law conference is held in Malaysia and we have endeavoured to keep the registration fee for members of the Malaysian Bar as low as is possible for such an international law conference. We invite you to sign up for the Conference and take advantage of this opportunity. Please visit the Conference website at www.lawasiakl2008.org for details or contact us at (email) info@lawasiakl2008.org or +603 2031 3003 (Chandrika/Nicole). |
