KOTA BARU: Kelantan Bar committee member Krishman Ramiah clarified yesterday that chairman Datuk Sukri Mohamad’s criticism of Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh was made in his personal capacity.

At no time was the Kelantan Bar committee involved in the criticism of Karpal Singh, said Krishman, pointing out that the headline in a certain newspaper was misleading.

He said Sukri’s remarks were made in his personal capacity as the matter was never discussed with the committee members.

Krishman said that since there was no prior discussion he had to reserve comment on the war of words between Karpal Singh and Sukri.

Sukri had said Karpal Singh was wrong in wanting to introduce a motion in Parliament to discuss the conduct of a High Court Judge who purportedly ticked off Karpal Singh’s assistant S. Ranee in open court.

Since it involved Karpal Singh’s law firm, the proposed motion was seen more as a personal matter than a public issue, Sukri argued.
