PENANG: Lawyer Darshan Singh Khaira, 59, has obtained a stay of his
bankruptcy order from a High Court here pending his appeal.
He obtained the stay before Judicial Commissioner Ghazali Cha in chambers
yesterday, pending the hearing of his appeal in the same court on Sept 6.
Darshan Singh was declared bankrupt on Wednesday for non-payment of costs plus
interest amounting to RM123,902.33 when High Court senior assistant registrar
Noor Fazila Ishak allowed a petition dated April 24, 2005.
The petition was filed by the Penang Sports Club through its honorary secretary
Albert Wong.
