KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Bar Committee has condemned Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh for proposing to file a motion in Parliament to discuss the conduct of a High Court Judge during court proceedings last month.

Karpal Singh is clearly making a personal issue into a national one and the motion is uncalled for since it is not a public issue, committee chairman Datuk Sukri Mohamad said.

Karpal Singh made the proposal after High Court Judge Datuk Mohamed Apandi Ali, on March 5, purportedly ticked off counsel S. Ranee, who is from Karpal Singh’s legal firm, for being 45 minutes late in court and for nor submitting a written submission in a criminal appeal case.

To this, Sukri said that under the Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Order, an MP cannot raise a personal issue in the assembly.
