Dear members of the Bar,

We refer to our earlier Circular No. 191/2009 dated 6 July 2009 (‘Circular’), a copy of which is enclosed.

A Sub-committee on Labour Law has been set up under the Law Reform & Special Areas Committee of the Bar Council to study the relevant labour laws and to propose amendments (if any) to the Ministry of Human Resources. The Sub-committee is chaired by Mr. G. Kanarasan, Deputy Chairperson of the Law Reform & Special Areas Committee.

The Sub Committee held its 1st meeting on 17th June 2009 wherein 6 Working Groups (WG) were formed to review various labour laws.

A WG dialogue session has been scheduled in early August 2009 to confirm the members and the terms of reference of the WGs.

We wish to invite members of the Bar to sit on the WGs to contribute their expertise and knowledge in this area of practice.
