Should pool be converted to a competitive event in the annual Malaysian/Singapore Bench and Bar Games series?
Pool has historically been played on a non-competitive basis, akin to a friendly game between the two nations. However, the competition has, over the years, seen many close matches, and is keenly followed by the contingents every time the series is held.
This year, Singapore won the event and scored 4-3 against Malaysia.
The Malaysian team showed great teamwork to push their Singaporean counterparts all the way. Ultimately, however, Singapore's better-prepared team won the day.
The players and supporters had much fun and the camaraderie between the teams was evident throughout.
Nonetheless, pool seems destined to “go competitive” next year, as the victor has alternated between the two nations over the last five years between the two nations, showing how evenly-matched the teams are.
Due to the event’s designation as non-competitive, the winning team did not score any point but was heartily applauded for its triumph.
Not just there to play and cheer, a team of web reporters will provide regular updates on the Malaysia/Singapore Bench and Bar Games 2011. For ease of reference, all reports will bear the heading "B&B 42". Watch this space.
