PUTRAJAYA, Fri.: Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said today it is high time for the government to look into the setting up of a Judicial Apppointments Commission.

Gani said he was looking forward to the formation of the commission.

“I’m very happy with what the prime minister said and I think he is looking at it seriously. I think the government should look at all the issues he raised last night,” he told reporters after meeting Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, advisor to Prime Minister on women development and social affairs at his office here.

He said the formation of the commission would be discussed in detail by the relevant parties.

He was asked to comment on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s announcement last night, that the commission would be set up to nominate, appoint and promote judges in a transparent and representative manner as part of the country’s judicial reform.
