It’s that time of the year where another hallowed tradition of our profession gets dusted, pressed and turned out for another round of merry making, gamesmanship and a whole lotta fun.
Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready for the 40th Annual Malaysia/Singapore Bench & Bar Games.
Every other year, the Law Society of Singapore and the Malaysian Bar take turns to host the Games and this year it will be held in Singapore after last year’s instalment in Malacca. (More photos here and here)
The Games present a unique opportunity and a wonderful platform for members of the Malaysian and Singaporean Bench and Bar to catch up with old friends, and form new friendships and of course, to face off over 15 sporting events.
Putting aside the drudgery and intensity of perusing black and white scratchings on bleached white paper, members of the respective Bench and the Bar will battle it out for sporting supremacy over a period of 3 days during this year’s Labour Day weekend.
While teams on either side of the Causeway will definitely bring on their “game faces” when they take the field, or to the court, or even to the track, the Games are always blessed by the level of sportsmanship and the sense of camaraderie as exemplified during the course of previous Games.
The Malaysian contingent is committed to giving their best for the coming Games in Singapore and has been diligently training and making sacrifices for it.
For example our Cross Country running team runs regularly at the Lake Gardens, while the Tennis and Badminton teams meet up once a week for casual games and pick–up matches.
Last year, the Malaysian contingent won the Champions trophy for the 3rd consecutive year. Will Malaysia make it a quadruple? Support Team Mas and stay in touch with the Malaysian contingent over the 3 days, as our web reporters give you the low–down with the latest results, commentaries and photos which would be uploaded at 2 daily intervals – 1.00pm and 7.00 p.m. during the Games.
