Whilst awareness programmes could carry on in the Press / Media / Print / Bar Council Official Website, we, a group of individual lawyers comprising Amer Hamzah, Fahri Azzat, Edmund, Nik Mohamad, Nik Elin, Richard Wee, Shanmuga, James Khong, Will Fung have set up an initial "Task Force" group called "TANGKAP" - "Tindakan ANti-penyalah Gunaan KuasA Polis".
It will be a group of lawyers involved in upholding justice for victims of police abuse in Malaysia and in legal action to help redress violations of human rights by the Malaysian police against persons under their control.
This is a closed group for lawyers who are interested to take up the responsibility and willing to contribute in different manner for the protection / welfare of the public at large. Those who wish to join our e-group can do so by sending a blank email to tangkap-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tangkap.
We hope to see subscription of at least 100 lawyers in the next one week from different states within Malaysia. Concerned NGOs will be included in the group at a stage to be announced. Please note: this is a WORKING group! Be prepared to commit your time in not just talking, but working.
