The Penang Bar held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 24 February 2011, at the Cititel Hotel Penang, which was attended by 180 members.
Mr. E. Gnasegaran was elected as Chairman while outgoing Chairman, Mr. Mureli Navaratnam was elected as the new Bar Council Representative. Both posts were not contested.

Among the main issues discussed during the AGM were those relating to assault cases and threats against lawyers and various Court issues.
