Mr. Suppiah was called to the English Bar in 1959. Admitted
as an Advocate and Solicitor to the Singapore Bar in 1960, Malaysian Bar in
1961. He is a very senior member of the Bar. Since then, he has been in active
practice in Johore Bahru (except for five years – 1964 to 1969 – when he was a
Legal Officer in the Malaysian Armed Forces holding the rank of Major). He was a
Judge Advocate of the Malaysian Armed Forces for a while thereafter.
He was on the Bar Council in 1972, 1982 and 2003 to 2005 as Johore's
representative.
He was written a book on “Military Law”. He has about 52 reported cases in the
Law Journals – civil as well as criminal.
He has been connected with football and golf. Still plays golf.
