Bengkel Penggunaan Bahasa Melayu di Mahkamah (8 Okt 2011)

Selari dengan tujuan dan matlamat Jawatankuasa Bahasa Melayu Majlis Peguam (JBM) untuk memartabatkan penggunaan Bahasa Melayu, terutamanya di kalangan pengamal undang-undang, satu Bengkel Penggunaan Bahasa Melayu di Mahkamah telah diadakan pada 9:00 pagi ke 1:00 petang, bertempat di Majlis Peguam, pada 8 Okt 2011 (Sabtu).
Dua penceramah telah dijemput ke bengkel tersebut. Abdul Rahim b Mat Yassim, pensyarah linguistik dari Universiti Malaya, memberi penekanan kepada pemantapan bahasa terutamanya tatabahasa, manakala Mohd Sabri b Othman, pegawai dari Badan Kehakiman, memberi penerangan mengenai penggunaan Bahasa Melayu di mahkamah serta panggilan hormat yang harus digunakan di mahkamah.
Empat jam tidak mencukupi bagi mereka yang benar-benar ingin mendalami sebarang bahasa. Itulah yang diutarakan oleh peserta-peserta bengkel. Terlalu banyak ilmu yang ingin dipelajari, dan masa yang diberi terlalu singkat. Namun, tidak dapat dinafikan bahawa banyak juga yang telah dipelajari oleh peserta-peserta bengkel tersebut dalam masa yang singkat itu. Usaha murni JBM diharap dapat diteruskan lagi dengan bengkel yang lebih khusus dan masa yang lebih lama.
